Sofware Freedom Day 2012
On Saturday the 15th of September 2012, thousands of people around the world will be celebrating Software Freedom Day.
Zimbabweans are also part of that number. There are two events scheduled to celebrate SFD, one in Harare and the other in Bulawayo.
The events are meant to educate the public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) in education, in government, at home, and in business — in short, everywhere.
Never heard of FOSS? You probably use it already. If you’ve used Firefox, Wikipedia, Open Office, VLC just to name a few, then you have a pretty good idea what i’m talking about. Here’s a question though….besides the fact that it’s free, why should you use Free and OpenSource? How did the Free and OpenSource Movement start? Why is it important to know your rights as a Software User?
To get answers to these questions(and more) go to the nearest SFD gig and you’ll see it for yourself. There’ll be lot’s to learn, who knows, you might even meet the makers of your favourite open source software.

Just to correct you, Chrome is not open source, it is proprietary of Google. Open Office is part of Oracle. The community made aa fork called LibreOffice far much better.
Instead of VLC you wrote VIC.
